This is genuine lacquer. The rims of the "cup" or hozuki and the "wings" are trimmed with silver.

NUMBER H17 "ASH COVERED" HAIKATSUGI TEMMOKU
Outside is plain and the inside is mottled brown. So called because it looks like solidified wood ash. Many were very popular with late Muromachi and early Momoyama wabi tea masters.
